I have seen many good coaches over the last 30 years. But THAT was the most effective, radical self-defense system! A MUST for every trainer.

As a martial arts practitioner for over four decades, I have had the opportunity to train with some of the most respected instructors in the industry. However, I rarely encountered anyone quite like Rock Dehon and his Kino Mutai Combatives system. Rock's system is unparalleled in its extreme simplicity and unorthodox approach to street violence. Kino Mutai Combatives is not just a set of techniques; it is a philosophy, a way of thinking about violence and survival. Rock's system is based on the reptilian brain, the most primitive and survival-focused part of our psyche. It is not about flashy moves or complex sequences; it is about doing whatever it takes to survive a violent encounter. What sets Rock apart from other instructors is his years of martial arts training and security experience. He has worked in some of the most challenging environments, including nightclubs, international close protection, and instructor. This experience has given him a unique perspective on violence and how to deal with it. Rock's teaching methodology is excellent. He is a patient and dedicated instructor who takes the time to work with each student individually. His approach is not about drilling techniques into his students; it is about giving them the tools to think for themselves and react instinctively to violence. Rock's Kino Mutai Combatives system is the real deal! If you want to learn how to survive a violent encounter, I cannot recommend Rock and his system highly enough.

Fabrice Fourment Makoff - Shihan 8eme Dan Kyokushin-Kai Karate - Krav Maga Instructor -

Russian Combat System Instructor - International Instructor for Operators in Hostile Environment

Active for nearly 20 years in a group in charge of the security of threatened institutions (some of which had been the target of attacks), then in charge of this same body for nearly 14 years, but also in charge of the continuous training of the many men who made up this group, I was by force of circumstance led to rub shoulders with and train with many instructors from various disciplines. Some of these instructors had a good martial arts background, some coming from the world of martial arts, others from the world of combat sports. However, most of the time, the techniques taught by these instructors were either complicated to implement and required years of practice to master, or they lacked realism and were totally out of touch with the realities of the field. Until the day I came across Rock Dehon, whose methods simply revolutionised our training (by first going through the "total questioning of almost everything we had learnt before" stage). Rock's methods are both simple to implement, but also frighteningly effective, but most importantly, the guy doesn't throw out big theories learned in books or dojo where nothing happens. His real field experience has allowed him to sort out the martial techniques, and keep only those that work in real situations. With Rock, classes start with a joint warm-up and the cardio is at the end of the class, so that each student keeps his full potential to assimilate the material. He is the only one who works in this way, the other instructors exhaust the students at the beginning of the class (probably to keep the physical advantage over the students...).

If you are looking for an instructor who will give you nice belts and make you believe that you are the King of the Ring so that you keep coming to his classes, we have some addresses for you. If you are looking for an instructor who will increase your skills tenfold so that you can defend yourself effectively and quickly, I can only advise you to train with Rock.

Yoram B. - 14 Years Head of Security of Threatened Institutions, Krav Maga & Shooting Instructor

''Rock’s Self-Defense teaching has been invaluable for me and my whole family. His technique is incredibly easy to learn and has amazingly quickly made my family safer. No need to be strong, tall, flexible or particularly quick. Everyone can quickly learn the simple life-saving moves. Rock’s technique is the outcome of a very rare mix : his exceptional mastering of various fighting techniques, numerous real-life fighting experiences, a solid knowledge of how our brain and body react to stress, a continuous search for the easiest move giving the biggest impact''.

I had the chance, from 2003 till 2010, to work with M. Rock Dehon several times during critical missions linked to people’s safety. His know-how and experience concerning safety risk management is a real asset for every person who have to take dedicated measures to ensure his/her safety. Rock is also a trustable person ; an example of integrity. His experience in personal training programs is also a add-value for his client ; always ready to detail and explain why a certain kind of measure is mandatory and how to understand it. His goal : to keep his “principal” safe, but at the same time to ensure his comfort and mental wellness, even when risks become more concrete. EU high-level politicians under police protection, CEO’s who have to announce huge social plans in several business units in the EU region or members of Royal families visiting EU : some of the numerous cases for which I chose to work with Rock. Feedback from the client was, at all time : “Please ensure Rock is available for our next visit !” I stay at your disposal for more details concerning my experience with M. Rock Dehon. Do not hesitate to contact me, should you need further information. Best regards.

Christophe Samyn - OPSMAN Consulting SRL - Managing Director I opsman.eu

I’m a retired French Special Force soldier with several operations in conflict zones and later as  private  close protection operator in hostile environment. The most important values of Rock Dehon system's are the simplicity, the unorthodox approach and the high retention level with a very limited time of maintenance. I experimented it years after the instruction ends. It was late at night, when three thugs surround me and try to corner me, asking for my goods. What amazed me was my instinctive and so brutal tactical answer. It's clear that the Kino Mutai Combatives system is deeply ingrain into my muscle memory.

Frederic B. - Retired French Special Force & Close Protection Officer

I had the great privilege of personally training with Rock Dehon. His vast experience in various martial arts, including Krav Maga, Filipino & Indonesian Martial arts to name a few, his passion to teach, and his personal commitment to his students’ success had a profound impact on me. It strengthen my self-confidence, knowing that, whether in business or in life in general, I had tools to react to an unknown situation and be able to defend myself and those who depend on me.

Eric Rozemberg - Belgo/American Entrepreneur

I highly recommend Rock Dehon as an instructor. As a special force military close-combat instructor, I had the pleasure of working with Rock a few times. He is a motivated and organized instructor who develops inspiring relationships with his students. Rock has always been driven to develop his skills as an instructor. He embraces any opportunity for professional development, which makes him an ideal leader. Rock has a great rapport with people of all ages. His ability to communicate with his students and his knack for teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior.

Patrick L. - Retired Belgian Special Force.  Close Combat, Shooting & TCCC Instructor

Hello everyone, I had the opportunity to know Rock in 2005 through a self defense course called Urban Pentjak Silat in Brussels. I was directly struck by the pedagogy, the knowledge and above all the search for realism of Rock Dehon which already rich in many years of practice through various martial arts and experience in the field attracted all my interest and my motivation. The years go by and we are still in contact to find a real professional who offers a realistic and concrete service on demand.

Oliver T. Di Silvestro - Kempo, Kick Boxing, Close Combat & Krav Maga Black Belt Instructor

I have been practicing Kyokushin Kai and Shidokan Karate for more than 30 years. I've been a national combat instructor for several years in both disciplines (a period of time where several European and World champions emerged). I also worked as a doorman in different nightclubs and have been confronted with the violence of the street for many years. I heard about Rock Dehon and his combat system and decided to approach him honestly with some kind of doubt first (remember in Kyokushin Kai, we like pragmatism). What shocked me first was the unorthodox approach of the defensive tactics, something I never experimented before, absolutely non-conventional, and I was not ready for this, in fact, no-one is ready for this! Secondly, the well done teaching methodology, bringing the practitioner, in a very short time, to an incredible level of survival efficiency couple to a real understanding of street violence, criminal mindset, situational awareness and observation, deescalating tactics, appropriate use of force continuum, stress management, and more. Thirdly, what also surprised me was that despite his massive Martial Arts background in so many disciplines, Rock didn't create a new system with a mix of this and that (like we often see). In fact, as he explained to me, after years of reading and exchanges on how the brain is working under survival stress (research starting about 25 years ago), he understood that he had to emptied the glass of ''knowledge'' and restart from scratch, considering the needs of the median man/woman, with no time for regular training, no street experience, but with the will to become a hard target and to learn to avoid and to survive a violent confrontation in the most realistic and efficient way. Finally, I found out that Rock was a very humble and open minded guy, always ready to learn and taking all advice, both on  technical and pedagogical side, and this is a real plus. To summarize, I strongly believe in Rock's Kino Mutai Combatives system and recommend everyone to discover it. Osu.

Sensei Marco Marra - 3eme Dan Kyokushin-Kai & Former Belgian National Team Coach

I have been practicing martial arts and combat sports for 35 years. So I started at the age of 6 with judo and karate, and I very quickly turned to Taekwondo, which I practiced intensively until I was 20. Always with the will to fill the gaps of the different systems and disciplines, I started studying boxing, full contact, kick boxing and Thai boxing. These different practices do not provide all the answers to street fights, I thought leaned assiduously in Krav Maga and Pentjak Silat. It was then that I had the chance to meet Rock Dehon who allowed me to develop in reality based self defense. I was literally blown away by the character! Pragmatism, realism, efficiency, and experience in the field, crowned with a strong mind and an exceptional pedagogy. I have been focusing on the practice of his system for 20 years now, either close combat, stick-fitting, and knife-combat, alongside Filipino boxing. I am lucky today to be able to pass on this knowledge to my customers who are in turn seduced by this methodology. I wish all enthusiasts and training buffs like me to cross his path, I guaranteed that Rock will upset and/or confirm all of your beliefs and certainties!

Amaury Corthouts - Taekwondo Black Belt & Belgian National Team Member - Aeliteclub Co-Founder

We attended Kino Mutai Combatives training courses dispensed by Rock Dehon at our Sports Club in Brussels, Belgium. The KMC concept in itself is different from the classic “martial arts” concepts as it is meant to help you defend yourself in case of aggression with no “gentlemen” rules attached. However KMC makes you realise that: “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting” (Sun Tzu). In other words KMC teaches you, in case of a conflict, to de-escalate, and if at all possible avoid a fight. Thus, during the KMC  training you learn: that a criminal looks for a prey not a potential fighter; to be aware of your environment, eventual threats, danger, etc. and avoid same; to be conscious of where potential danger could be and/or come from; to de-escalate a conflict, rather than escalate it; to prepare your environment to testify you have done all you could to avoid the fight; to protect yourself in case of aggression; to retaliate efficiently if there is no other solution (various fighting techniques aimed at ending a fight efficiently and fast, and then run away). KMC has increased our confidence in our capabilities to defend ourselves with the means at our disposal in the day to day life: our body weapons (knees, elbows, teeth…), simple items that can become weapons (keys, computer cable, belt, etc.).

Yves Bastin - Positive Solutions Group CEO / Founder and Ex CEO of FACT Group

With over 40 years in martial arts and as an instructor in Jeet Kune Do, Sanda and Kickboxing, I've experienced many fighting styles. However, discovering Kino Mutai Combatives (KMC) was a revelation in term of self-defense. Its simplicity, efficiency, and unorthodox approach make it an exceptional self-defense system, accessible to everyone, not just martial arts enthusiasts. The Kino Mutai Combatives stands out in its ability to deliver quick results with an amazing retention level of the techniques learned. Unlike traditional martial arts that require years of practice, KMC equips students with practical skills in a fraction of the time. This is invaluable in today's increasingly uncertain world. As a Martial Arts school owner (the Jeet Kune Do Ruszil Academy), the Kino Mutai Combatives has enabled me to offer realistic self-defense techniques to a wider audience, beyond the martial arts community. It's a game-changer for anyone seeking effective, real-world defense skills.

Sifu Pierre Ruszil - Jeet Kune Do, Sanda & Kick-Boxing Instructor

Kino Mutai Combatives (KMC) deeply resonates with my vision of self-defense, offering an approach that is both simple and universally applicable. What sets KMC apart is its ability to adapt to various styles and personal needs, making self-defense accessible to everyone, regardless of their background. My own experience in martial arts has opened my eyes to the importance of finding a method that speaks to both my mind and body. KMC has enriched my understanding of self-defense, providing me with practical and straightforward tools, while respecting my personal practice. What I appreciate most about KMC is the deep respect it teaches for all forms of practice and individual journeys in martial arts. It's a method that not only strengthens physical skills but also cultivates an appreciation for the diversity and richness of different approaches to self-defense.

Sifu Hertveld Stephane - Traditional Ba Ji Quan and Xing Yi Kung Fu Teacher

As a passionate Martial Arts practitioner, I have remained loyal to my style, the Lung Hua Chuan Kung Fu, which I learned from Grand Master Gonsette (a pioneer of Kung Fu in Belgium). During that time, I met Rock Dehon (it's about 40 years ago). Like any practitioner, I have of course tried many other arts, such as Pentjak Silat, Krav-Maga, Kickboxing, Wing Chun, but never found an equivalent to my art (except for Wing Chun). In 2023, during Rock's visit to Belgium, I attended the Kino Mutai Combatives classes. I found a synthesis of many combat and self-defense arts, an instructor and team very experienced in techniques and very open to sharing their extensive experience in security and street techniques. Excellent work with sticks and knives. I rarely recommend a combat art because I am convinced that everyone must find their own path, but I do recommend the Kino Mutai Combatives to everyone, beginners or experienced fighters. Rock Dehon is a great man in the Martial Arts family. For the Lung Hua Chuan Kung Fu Courcelles/Belgium.

Sifu André Lenaerts - Lung Hua Chuan Kung Fu Teacher

After 40 years in martial arts—including karate, Ju-Jutsu, Thai boxing, MMA, close combat systems, and teaching Krav Maga since 2003—and extensive professional experience in military and law enforcement training, I attended a Kino Mutai Combatives workshop in  2023 with Rock Dehon in Liège, Belgium.  It was a revelation. Since then, I have invited him to give seminars at my club—the best I have ever attended. His system is accessible, realistic, and effective for all, regardless of athleticism. The professionalism and methodology of his seminars are unparalleled. I aim to deepen my knowledge in the Kino Mutai Combatives system.
